Nick Pelletier, a West Kennebunk Village Committee member, asked the committee on Feb. 12 to develop a plan to keep community members safe from actions by Immigration and Customs Enforcement at public events such as the May community meeting and the Family Fun Day.
Pelletier said the request was intended to prompt staff review and planning; because the staff liaison, William Reichl, was absent, the committee agreed to discuss the matter with Reichl at the next meeting rather than adopt an immediate policy or directive. No motion or vote on a safety plan was taken at the Feb. 12 meeting.
Committee members framed the item as a request for staff follow-up and discussion rather than a policy decision. The committee will place the item on a future agenda for further consideration once staff can attend.
