Pawnee City council accepts Laura Poskochil’s resignation, opens vacancy application window

The Pawnee City Council accepted a resignation from Council Member Laura Poskochil effective Aug. 12, 2024.
Mayor Charles Hatfield presented Poskochil’s written resignation at the start of the meeting. Council Member Vickie Zelenka moved to accept the resignation; Council Member Donnie Fisher seconded. The roll call vote was: Zelenka, Aye; Fisher, Aye; Eisenhauer, Nay; Poskochil, Abstain. The motion carried. The council noted the vacancy may be filled by appointment: the mayor must submit the name of a qualified elector within four weeks, and the clerk will accept written applications through Aug. 23.
Poskochil remained at the meeting and told the council she would be "glad to share any information she could with the person that is appointed to take her position on Council."
