City staff briefed the council on department activity and the council approved a personnel resolution.
Community Development Director Craig Hensley told the council the city has had 498 permits and 1,383 inspections since the fiscal year began last July 1, with a combined valuation of about $197,000,000 and roughly $6,800,000 in permit and plan‑check revenue to date. Hensley said the city currently has 98 accessory dwelling units (ADUs) and recorded 28 ADUs during the past 12 months, which he said is typical for a city this size.
Hensley also updated the council on the Crestfield townhomes project at the former Andres Rodey School, which is in the plan‑check process with demolition expected to begin after the school vacates the property in July. He described a funded traffic‑signal project at Kellwell and Buena Vista near Beardsley School, saying a flashing stop sign will be used promptly after school ends to acclimate drivers and that the contractor expects to start work near late June or early July with the signal to be complete before school resumes or soon after.
On personnel, City Manager Villalobos presented resolution 26‑15 to establish an unrepresented employee salary schedule and compensation plan that includes a 1% base salary increase consistent with the third year of represented employees’ MOUs; the council moved, seconded and adopted the resolution without opposition.
Procedural actions: the consent calendar was moved, seconded and approved earlier in the meeting; the council also unanimously approved the resolution establishing the unrepresented salary schedule.
Why it matters: the permit revenue and project pipeline affect city finances and development outlook, ADU counts are a local housing indicator, and the personnel resolution sets pay for unrepresented staff moving forward.
There was no substantial debate recorded on these items; staff said they will provide additional budget or project timing details as projects progress.
