The Village of Northfield council unanimously adopted a package of emergency resolutions at its Jan. 26 regular meeting that set 2022 pay rates for municipal employees, imposed payroll deductions for certain employees who remain on a specified Medical Mutual PPO plan, confirmed two Recreation Board appointments and indefinitely suspended the Village Mayor's Court.
The votes were taken after each resolution was read by Law Director Brad Bryan and a motion was made to suspend the three‑reading rule. Council moved quickly through the items; each resolution passed by roll-call vote with all members present voting yes.

Finance Director and Clerk Jennifer Potvin provided preliminary 2022 budget materials to council and said she adjusted the budget format to better reflect departmental operating costs; those documents were provided for review but no budget vote occurred. Fire Chief Jason Buss thanked council for approving the department pay increases and said the raises will help make part‑time pay more competitive with neighboring departments.
