Cusseta–Chattahoochee commission approves appointments, meeting calendar and holiday schedule

The Board of Commissioners of the Unified Government of Cusseta–Chattahoochee County approved several administrative items at its Dec. 3 regular meeting, including three Board of Elections appointments and adoption of its 2025 meeting calendar and employee holiday schedule.

Resolutions on the consent docket approved the appointment of Nancy Hoard to the Board of Elections for a term beginning Jan. 1, 2025 and expiring Dec. 31, 2028; the appointment of Valerie Lassiter for a term beginning Jan. 1, 2025 and expiring Dec. 31, 2026; and the appointment of Crystal Walker to a term beginning Jan. 1, 2025 and expiring Dec. 31, 2028. The commission unanimously adopted the 2025 board meeting schedule and an employee holiday calendar for 2025, which sets regular meetings and work sessions and lists official holidays including New Year’s Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth and Christmas Day. The board also approved prior minutes from Nov. 12 and Nov. 25 as recorded.

The agenda included several items the commission moved to later discussion: cemetery bylaws were tabled until a work session and a proposed purchase of a sheriff vehicle was deferred to a work session for additional review and staffing reconciliation.

The minutes note that the county attorney told commissioners he had joined a new law firm (Clark Hill) and that his hourly rate will increase to $325 beginning Jan. 1; the attorney recommended formal engagement documentation to transfer files, and the commission placed that notice on the agenda.
