Council approves consent agenda, awards Shaw Drive rehab contract and directs Route 59 planning agreement

Warrenville — At its June 15 meeting the Warrenville City Council approved a multi-item consent agenda that included contract awards, permits and routine expenditures, and directed staff to present a finalized professional services agreement for a Route 59 corridor plan.
The consent agenda — moved by Alderman Widner and seconded by Alderman Davalos — included Ordinance 02026-34 (temporary use permit for accessory buildings at 27 West 770 Warrenville Road), Resolution R2026-38 establishing the Warrenville Merkantile Program, Resolution R2026-39 (professional services agreement for sanitary sewer evaluation), Resolution R2026-40 (contract with Geneva Construction Company for the Shaw Drive Area Street Rehabilitation Project in the amount listed in the agenda of $1,210,752.61), Resolution R2026-41 (construction engineering services with Thomas Engineering Group LLC), a fireworks permit for Rogue Productions LLC for July 4, and listed expenditures and minutes.
Council also heard and approved a staff recommendation to renew the DuPage County bid-based contract with Compass Minerals for the purchase of rock salt (staff requested 1,000 tons), citing favorable county pricing and existing group procurement participation. Alderman Widner asked whether communities participate jointly with DuPage County; staff confirmed many communities do and that group purchasing helps obtain better pricing.
Community planner Jack Mosca presented a draft professional services agreement for a Route 59 corridor plan with staff’s preferred consultant team, VanDeral and Associates and subconsultant Engineering Resource Associates. The proposed deliverables include an updated future land use map, zoning recommendations, streetscape and building design guidelines, an implementation matrix and marketing materials for up to four key sites. Council directed staff to present a finalized agreement for council consideration on July 6.
All motions related to the consent agenda and the professional-services direction were approved by the council during the meeting.
