Mayor to appoint Jason Berger to Planning Commission; Becky Gogol named chair

Mayor Procuk told the Village council on Feb. 17 that Councilman Ray Berzins has resigned as chair of the Planning Commission because only one council member may serve on the committee. The mayor said he has spoken with resident Jason Berger, who agreed to serve on the Planning Commission, and that the longest-serving commissioner would be appointed chair. Later in the meeting Procuk said Becky Gogol will be appointed chair and legislation to formalize Berger's appointment will be prepared for the March 3 meeting.
Council did not debate the appointment at length; the mayor stated the Planning Commission meets on an as-needed basis. Jason Berger asked how often the commission meets, and the mayor and council indicated the schedule is flexible.
The appointment and chairmanship change were announced as administrative actions to be formalized by ordinance or motion at a subsequent meeting; the mayor will prepare the necessary legislation.
