The Lynbrook Village Board on June 15 acknowledged Joe Sapolo for 40 years of service and approved his final accrued leave/time payout. The recognition drew board appreciation and the retirement payout motion was passed by voice consent.
The board also approved multiple seasonal hires for recreation and lifeguard positions and authorized DPW seasonal hires. Names of seasonal employees were read into the record (e.g., Danielle, Jillian Weston, Aiden Mayer, John Barkley and others). A small subset of personnel items was tabled per a request during the meeting.
Trustees and staff used the opportunity to thank village departments for work on Memorial Day and Patriots Day events, report on a successful fireworks display, and summarize library activity and summer programs. Library materials and program counts were discussed in the meeting; several figures were read during the presentation but portions of those numbers were garbled in the transcript and are recorded here as not specified where unclear.
The board welcomed the new seasonal staff and directed personnel matters to be handled by village staff as part of normal onboarding.
