The Inyo County Board of Supervisors voted on June 9 to send a letter opposing Senate Bill 1329 after a briefing from County Assessor Dave Stottlemyer.
Stottlemyer told the board that assessors and the California Assessors' Association widely oppose SB 1329, noting the bill would change processes used to value property that are grounded in the state constitution and long‑standing appraisal practice. He said the bill passed the Senate on June 5 and is now in the Assembly, and recommended the county address its opposition letter to the Assembly committee chair overseeing the bill.
Supervisor Griffiths indicated CSAC and the county's policy analysts were engaged on the issue. The board voted to approve the recommended opposition letter with the requested change of recipients so it would go to the appropriate Assembly committee chair.
County Counsel and staff will finalize the letter and transmit it per the board's direction.
