Community Development Director Joel Sims presented written facts and findings for both public hearings. After no members of the public spoke, Alderman Mason Herrin moved to grant the variance for Lot 140; Alderman Brent Sistrunk seconded, and the motion carried unanimously among members present.
City Attorney Bobby Lingold introduced an ordinance to make technical corrections to the zoning ordinances. The board adopted the ordinance; the roll call recorded Aldermen Mason Herrin, Kyle Martin and Brent Sistrunk voting Aye, and Aldermen John Banks and Brian Grantham absent.
The board also approved a set of public‑works procurements and repairs. In response to a Mississippi Department of Health inspection report, the board authorized and directed Engineering Service to begin work on the elevated water tank repurpose project (motion by Alderman Brent Sistrunk, seconded by Alderman Mason Herrin). Street Director David Myers recommended awarding the low bid of $5,000 to A J Construction, Inc. for a 6‑inch asphalt patch on Main Street, which the board approved. The board approved an additional $1,730 for invoice #25‑2510 to locate and cap a 4‑inch line at Main and Church streets.
Park Director Mark Hester recommended replacing a damaged concrete pad at the community center; the board approved a $4,500 contract with Brandon Concrete, LLC. The board also accepted a $5,542 quote from Nathaneal Smith to install fence slats on the tennis courts, the low bid compared with JM Fence Company.
The board voted on these items as motions during the regular session; minutes indicate motions carried unanimously among those present unless a specific roll call was recorded.
The ordinance and variance are effective as adopted and incorporated into the meeting record. The board stated no additional public comment was offered on the zoning matters during the hearings.
