Board adopts annual SB1 road projects list, requests minor corrections

The Inyo County Board of Supervisors on May 26 adopted the annual list of road maintenance and rehabilitation projects eligible for State Highway Account (SB1) funding.

Public Works presented the list and explained project selection criteria and timing, noting that listing a project does not guarantee immediate construction but preserves eligibility for future funding. The department said it expects about $4 million in SB1 funding for the coming year and highlighted examples such as Brockman Lane and proposed fog-sealing work intended to extend pavement life.

Residents who spoke during public comment raised neighborhood road concerns previously submitted to the board; Supervisor Rosier and others asked staff to check project names and dates for typos and to provide better project-location clarity for the public. Staff said some projects are placeholders and that the county uses a pavement management index to prioritize work.

The board approved the resolution with corrections and instructions to fix typographical errors and clarify planned timelines.

What’s next: staff will correct identified date and naming errors, post the final adopted list online, and prepare projects for bidding when funds and schedules align.
