Committee directs revised quote for non-motorized boat launch repairs

The Parks and Public Works Committee of the City of Prescott directed staff on June 15 to seek a revised contractor quote for repairs at the city’s non-motorized boat launch after reviewing updated proposals from Luke Busker Masonry.
City Administrator Matt Wolf reviewed the proposal and said the committee wants the revised bid to include demolition and replacement of the existing concrete stairs and sidewalk, tuckpointing of the fieldstone stairway walls, and tuckpointing and resetting of stones along the existing limestone retaining walls. The committee also asked that stone plinths, planter bowls and cast-iron bowls be removed from the new quote.
Committee members discussed adding a handrail and replacing the existing benches, with placement to be determined based on bench costs. Commissioner Dar Hintz and Committee Member Lindsey Sorenson supported focusing the current quote on structural and masonry work and deferring other items until cost estimates are clear.
The committee decided to delay several additional items — including placement of boulders to prevent further deterioration, extension of the limestone retaining wall, and construction of a five-foot-wide concrete access ramp — to a future phase of the project.
Planner Luke Wiese confirmed staff will obtain the revised quote and forward it to the City Council for consideration once it is received.
Next steps: staff will request the revision from Luke Busker Masonry and provide the updated estimate to the City Council for funding and scheduling decisions.
