The Board of Assessors opened its meeting at 3:30 p.m. on Feb. 11 and approved the Jan. 28, 2025 regular meeting minutes as submitted.
Warrants were reviewed: Warrant #48 had been reviewed and signed during the off week, and warrants #49 and #50 were reviewed and signed during the meeting.
The Clerk told the board she intended to “approach the annual report with a fresh perspective, aiming to enhance clarity, accessibility, and engagement to better connect with the community.” She asked that one or more board members provide a Board of Assessors report and requested a Road Commissioners report covering the prior fiscal year (June 2023 to July 2024). The Clerk also introduced two potential additions — dedicating the annual report to someone and including an in‑remembrance section — but the board did not reach a unanimous decision on those items.
Under continuing business the board reviewed a LUPC building permit item: an application for Allan & Jenna Mulandi (Wick Up Lane, Map 18 Lot 7) for a new single‑family dwelling (38x46 feet) with a new subsurface wastewater disposal system and driveway was recorded as withdrawn; the logged date and decision date are 2025‑02‑05.
The Clerk provided an update on a planned fireworks display during February vacation hosted by Saddleback. She said the display company already holds a State of Maine permit so a local permit was not required under the town ordinance; she nevertheless asked the hosting agency to complete the town’s Fireworks Display Permit and reported the company completed the application within minutes. The Clerk presented the completed local application to the board for review.
Assessor Rodney Varney reported on ongoing conversations about a proposed cell tower and said he has a phone meeting scheduled for the following day; other board members agreed he should proceed and he will update the board as information becomes available.
The meeting closed with administrative reminders. The board set its next meeting for Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2025, and adjourned at 4:40 p.m.
