Cottonwood Heights council approves construction contracts, vehicle financing and committee appointments

The Cottonwood Heights City Council on June 16 approved a series of resolutions advancing capital projects, fleet financing and citizen appointments.
Projects and contracts Council approved Resolution 2026-37 awarding a construction contract for the Stakerway drainage improvements and the 2700 East and DeVille Street roadway improvement project; council members noted constituent requests for the 2700 East work. The council also approved Resolution 2026-38 to ratify a bid and award a construction contract for the 3000 East and Big Cottonwood Canyon trail crosswalk project.
Fleet and equipment financing The council approved Resolution 2026-41 to enter a vehicle repurchase option agreement with Garf Enterprises for police and public works vehicles and equipment, and Resolution 2026-42 to enter a lease-purchase agreement with Zans's Bank Corporation for additional vehicle financing.
Historic resources and planning The council approved Resolution 2026-40 to hire Dunen and Associates for an engineering analysis of the old mill structure; the consultant’s scope, as described in the meeting packet, includes stabilization and mothballing, partial preservation, seismic retrofit and adaptive reuse, reconstruction with salvage stone and documented demolition only as a last resort. Council members and the historic committee liaison called the study a 'path forward' for evaluating preservation options.
Appointments and administrative items Council consented to appointments to the planning commission (Resolution 2026-43) and to the parks, trails and open space committee (Resolution 2026-44), noting Lucy Anderson will move from the planning commission to the parks committee. The consent calendar, including minutes from May 19 and June 2, passed with minor corrections.
