Committee approves consent agenda; two pay‑plan items deferred

The Metro Nashville Public Health and Safety Committee voted unanimously to approve a consent agenda that included several grant acceptances and an ordinance on second reading. Chair Huffman read the consent items aloud; the roll call result recorded that nine members voted in favor, zero against and zero not voting.

Items approved on the consent agenda included RS 2026‑2000 (a $372,000 grant to the Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee to review human and social service responses), RS 2026‑2001 (a grant to support Tennessee Certified Recovery Court Program services through Davidson County General Sessions Court), RS 2026‑2008 (an application for a U.S. Department of Justice grant to pilot a sobering and stabilization center), RS 2026‑2015 (a grant to supplement staffing for Family Safety Centers), RS2026‑2016 (an amendment to host a Tennessee Family Justice Center conference), RS2026‑2017 (an application for a Joyful Heart Foundation “Heal the Healers” grant), RS2026‑2018 (acceptance of a HIDTA grant for MNPD), and BL2026‑1390 (an ordinance designating temporary special event zones downtown for July 2–5, 2026).

Two items were pulled for deferral from the consent agenda. RS 2026‑2005, a resolution adopting a new pay plan for employees of the Metropolitan Board of Health effective July 1, 2026, was deferred by voice vote. A separate resolution adopting a new pay plan for employees of the Metropolitan Department of Police and Fire (agenda item number not specified in the record) was also deferred after a motion and second. The chair confirmed both items were deferred for later consideration.

Chair Huffman also announced that the interpersonal violence working group will meet Monday, June 8 at 4:00 p.m. in committee room two. The committee adjourned after the announcements.
