Cusseta–Chattahoochee commission reappoints assessors, tables multiple items

At its Oct. 1 meeting the commission unanimously reappointed two members to the Board of Tax Assessors, appointed the county manager to the Two Rivers Regional Commission and tabled several agenda items including the use of Old City Hall and cemetery bylaws.
The Unified Government of Cusseta‑Chattahoochee County Board of Commissioners met Oct. 1 and approved a series of routine appointments and procedural motions.
By unanimous vote the commission reappointed James (Jim) Weihe to Post 5 and Ken Vanhorn to Post 4 on the Cusseta‑Chattahoochee County Board of Tax Assessors, each term to expire Dec. 1, 2028. The commission also adopted a resolution appointing County Manager Thomas Weaver to the Two Rivers Regional Commission to fill a vacancy through Dec. 31, 2025.
The board voted to table several agenda items for further consideration: a proposal to allow the Board of Education to use Old City Hall (tabled to the November meeting), consideration of a cardboard compactor at the recycling center (tabled to a work session), a proposed change to Board of Elections policy (tabled pending a second public reading) and cemetery bylaws (to be discussed further with the cemetery committee and legal counsel). Commissioners also deferred purchases for sheriff and EMA vehicles until December to await clarity on SPLOST funding.
Other routine items approved included a refund for Beverly Riley and the rescheduling of the November regular meeting to Nov. 12 at 9:00 a.m. No contested votes were recorded; minutes state each motion carried unanimously among commissioners present.
The commission did not alter county ordinances or adopt new policy in these actions; several items were explicitly tabled for later consideration.
