Alpine County board approves consent items, accepts 42.89 acres of open space and proclaims April sexual-assault awareness month

On April 21 the Alpine County Board approved multiple consent and contract actions (street-sweeper MOU, office space for VistaRise Collective, an amendment to the Chamber contract), accepted the dedication of 42.89 acres of open-space parcels in Bear Valley (4–0, one abstention), and unanimously adopted a resolution declaring April 2026 sexual-assault awareness month.
Alpine County supervisors on April 21 approved several interlocal agreements and contract amendments and authorized county involvement in community services.
The board approved a memorandum of understanding with the Town of Gardnerville that lets Alpine County rent Gardnerville’s street sweeper on an as-needed basis to assist with maintenance tied to new bike lanes and stormwater requirements. County Executive Officer Sam Booth said the MOU will be edited to clarify that the requesting agency (Alpine County) will handle repair-type maintenance and the town (owner) will retain scheduled preventative maintenance; the board approved the amended MOU unanimously.
The board also approved an agreement to provide office space at Turtle Rock Park Community Center to VistaRise Collective (formerly Live Violence Free) so it can offer confidential crisis-line services, housing assistance and trauma-informed therapy in the county. The board conditioned final signing on receipt of the required certificate of insurance.
Supervisors approved Amendment No. 1 to contract CC2025-79 with the Chamber of Commerce to continue visitor services in Alpine County; the amendment shifts county payment responsibility for certain utilities to the county while the chamber will assist with operation of the Markleyville market. The amendment was approved with the board chair designated as the signatory.
On a separate item, the board adopted a resolution accepting for public purposes an irrevocable offer to dedicate three parcels (Open Space D, E and F) totaling 42.89 acres from Bear Valley Company Properties. Sam Booth outlined the parcel history and community-maintenance improvements on the land; the motion passed 4–0 with one abstention and the county will record the deeded acceptance with the recorder’s office.
The board also unanimously adopted a resolution proclaiming April 2026 as sexual-assault awareness month and recognizing VistaRise Collective’s planned local office (pending insurance verification) and services.
All motions described above passed at the April 21 meeting; items pulled from the consent calendar were discussed and approved in open session.
