Department of Labor inspects playground; district to correct issues and offer employee safety training

Mike Watson, with the Department of Labor, told the Bearden School Board on Nov. 13, 2025, that he had inspected areas cited in a parent complaint about the playground and the elementary building and that the district will correct the identified concerns.
Watson also said the Department of Labor will offer two classes in January to all district employees on bloodborne pathogens and chemical safety. Superintendent Denny Rozenberg confirmed the inspection and the district’s plan to address the items identified by the inspector.
During the same meeting Rozenberg announced that construction of a metal building at the football field would begin the following week and that the district intends to purchase a pole vault. The board also handled routine business earlier in the meeting, approving the October minutes and the financial statement and current bills. The minutes record a unanimous vote for those motions; the financial-motion seconder in the minutes appears to be recorded inconsistently (the record lists Joannie Cayce as both mover and seconder). Adam Bailey moved to adjourn at 8:25 p.m.; Jeff Ballard seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
