Bearden School Board approves $350 one-time bonus, personnel reclassification and budget corrections

The Bearden School Board on Dec. 15 approved a one-time $350 bonus for all contracted employees, several personnel moves and minor budget corrections during a routine meeting at the district cafeteria.
Vice President Joannie Cayce moved to approve the $350 bonus, to be paid in the December payroll; the motion, which excludes part-time, as-needed employees, was seconded by Tony Harcrow and passed unanimously. The board did not specify an exact vote tally in the record.
The board also approved a personnel reclassification for Ashley Beza. Cayce moved to reclassify Beza from a full-time Title I paraprofessional to part-time Title I elementary paraprofessional and part-time regular elementary paraprofessional while she student-teaches in the second semester; the motion was seconded by Harcrow and approved unanimously.
Board members approved the Teacher Recruitment and Retention plan after a motion by Harcrow and a second by Adam Bailey. As part of routine personnel actions, the board voted to hire Amy Ray and Jerry Burress as high school teachers for the second semester of the 2025–2026 school year; Joannie Cayce made the motion and Tony Harcrow seconded.
The board also approved a Cycle I 2025–2026 budget correction for the Alternative Learning Environment (ALE) program, increasing that program’s budget from $19,210.48 to $21,343.48. Joannie Cayce moved the correction and Adam Bailey seconded; the motion passed unanimously.
Procedural items on the consent side of the agenda included approval of the November minutes and the financial statement and current bills; both motions passed unanimously.
The meeting record shows all motions carried without recorded dissents. The board adjourned at 7:15 p.m.
