Bearden High School outlines dual-degree option; elementary keeps D grade after state appeal

At the Oct. 14 meeting Principal Lavell Wright described a program enabling high-school students to obtain a high school diploma and an associate degree simultaneously. Wright also provided an update on student cell-phone usage at the high school.
Elementary Principal Devonda Moore reported that the elementary school will keep its D letter grade because a state appeal concluded the school had demonstrated growth over the past three years. Moore also discussed the required test third graders must pass to be promoted to fourth grade.
The board did not take formal votes on either academic program during the meeting; these were informational reports from school leadership.
