CPC hears housing authority contract timing, arts grant update and welcomes new liaison

The Community Preservation Committee on Jan. 27 reviewed several administrative items and scheduling updates, including a notice from the housing authority about contract timing, a planned April 10 presentation from the Cape Center for the Performing Arts, and staff changes.
Chair Chris told the committee the housing authority contacted the CPC to discuss how to amend an agreement so that three‑year assistance contracts — which, if started now, would end in 2028 while the contract currently contains a 2027 drop‑dead date — can proceed without losing continuity. "I'll write back to them and ask them to come and defend or lay this out for us, in better fashion," Chris said, and the item was slated for the April 10 meeting so the housing authority can present details.
Arts and housing trust items: The committee was told the Cape Center for the Performing Arts will come to CPC on April 10 to discuss a grant for Playhouse renovations. The chair also raised a pending Affordable Housing Trust request to release $150,000 for two units at the old Vic Hall property; committee members said an appraisal is pending and they will await further information from the trust and Bob Samlick.
Staffing and membership: Chris introduced Kelly Grayson as the committee’s new liaison to administration. Grayson said she currently works in administration as an executive assistant and will transition to an administrative analyst role that will include support for the CPC. "I work in administration currently as the executive assistant, but will be transitioning into a new role... The title will be administrative analyst," she said. The committee welcomed new member Sally Baker.
Meeting close: Members were reminded that applications for the CPC cycle are due the first Friday in May (committee materials alternately referenced May 2 and May 4) and that the committee will review submissions the following week. The meeting adjourned following the administrative updates.
