Camp Frances schedules June events, approves microwave cart purchase and cancels July meeting

The Camp Frances Board of Directors confirmed several summer events and routine operations at its June 9 meeting.
Susie DeBack told members that Go Science Camp is scheduled for June 18; she will develop a scavenger hunt for D’Lynn to use with the children and Anne Watson will assist. The board also discussed a spring campfire that took place May 17 and plans for a reunion campfire on Aug. 30 for Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts and Campfire Girls; Anissa Buiskool said she will prepare a flyer and board members were encouraged to publicize the event.
Board members reported that SaintAmore has selected a potential site for a pollinator garden at the south end of the property across the road; the project will include signage and multi-year maintenance arrangements.
Anissa Buiskool, the board’s Department of Public Works representative, reported that DPW is nearing completion of phase one of city street improvements and that a map of the work is available online; she also said park rangers cleaned the propane tank and placed flowerpots with geraniums in the landscaped area.
On operations, the board noted the microwave cart had become unstable and gave unanimous approval to purchase a replacement cart at a cost of $100 or less; Barb VanderMolen will handle the purchase. The board also voted unanimously to cancel its July meeting and resume meetings in August.
The board set its next regular meeting for Aug. 11, 2026 at 6:30 p.m. and recorded camp-check assignments for June through August.
