Susie DeBack, treasurer of the Camp Frances Board of Directors, told the board that she, Anne Watson, Cathy Bogner and Anissa Buiskool attended a May 27 Eaton County Commissioners meeting to present the board’s grant request for a memorial path and received unanimous support from the commissioners.
The endorsement clears an important presentation hurdle, but the board said the final decision on distributing the grant money now rests with the City of Charlotte Department of Public Works. Anissa Buiskool, the board’s DPW representative, confirmed DPW will determine how and when the funds are allocated and will install a donated bench on site if the grant is approved. The donor selected a location east of the firepit on the south end of the property.
The board has circulated materials to the attorney, city council and the Non-Profit Network for a final bylaws review and said it will circulate the draft bylaws after that review is complete. The board did not record a final appropriation or a DPW approval at this meeting; members said they expect to know the outcome from DPW in June.
The board’s next steps are to await DPW’s distribution decision and to coordinate installation of the bench if funds are approved. No funding amounts or DPW timelines were specified at the June 9 meeting.
