Planning committee forwards Williams Road annexation and R15 rezoning to council pending sewer availability
Summary
Planning and Development Committee voted to forward TR26-08, an ~8.15-acre annexation and rezoning on Williams Road to R15, to full council; staff noted sewer availability must be confirmed by Metropolitan Sewer Subdistrict (Metro Connects) and that the parcel currently faces gravity-sewer limitations.

The Planning and Development Committee voted to send TR26-08 — annexation and rezoning of about 8.15 acres on Williams Road from Greenville County (previously unzoned) into the City of Travelers Rest with an R15 designation — to full council for consideration.
Staff briefed committee members that the property was partly surrounded by city limits, presented as a parcel to be brought entirely into the city at the property owner’s request, and said both staff and the planning commission recommended approval. Staff cautioned that sewer service is not guaranteed: Metropolitan Sewer Subdistrict (Metro Connects) must review and confirm availability, and if sewer is unavailable the applicant could remain on septic.
Committee members asked about neighborhood engagement and whether adjacent parcels are likely to develop; staff said a neighborhood meeting was advertised and that detailed attendance/comments will be followed up by staff and reported to council. The committee voted to forward the annexation and rezoning to full council without taking the final action in committee.
