Glassport updates land bank activity, applies for $1M state grant and approves two parcel acquisitions

Borough Manager Elaina Skiba presented an update on Glassport’s land bank at the Nov. 19 meeting, listing multiple properties currently being marketed, properties acquired at sheriff sale and parcels awaiting sheriff sale.
Skiba said a state grant application for $1 million from the Local Share Account Fund was submitted to support renovations and updates to the borough’s building. She specifically thanked State Representative Nick Pisciottano for securing $850,000 toward continued renovations and updates, noting that the borough could not have accomplished many projects without that support.
The solicitor, Falco Muscante of Maiello, Brungo and Maiello, presented two resolutions under the Vacant Property Recovery Program transferring Parcel No. 558-H-055 and Parcel No. 558-H-049 to Harold Case. Council adopted both Resolution No. 1 (11/19/24) and Resolution No. 2 (11/19/24) by recorded votes of 6–0–1.
Council also voted to list 102 Seventh Street with Neighborhood Realty Services after receiving no bids in prior public notices. Neighborhood Realty has begun showing 509 7th Street, another property the borough listed for sale.
Those actions are part of the borough’s ongoing effort to return vacant properties to productive use; council did not provide sale prices or detailed renovation schedules during the meeting.
