At its June 18 meeting, Glassport Borough Council approved routine financial actions and property-administration steps and heard several residents raise neighborhood concerns.
Council accepted the Treasurer's report and approved General Fund bills for May totaling $357,271.01 and Sewer Revenue Fund bills for May of $65,505.31. Both votes were unanimous 5-0. Council also approved an agreement with Waste Management for electronic-waste recycling that carries a $250 one-time delivery fee, a $699 dumpster cost and a $20 monthly fee.
Borough Manager Elaina Skiba presented and council approved signing Tri-COG Land Bank Proposed Property Disposition paperwork for 626 Ohio Avenue. Skiba listed other properties now owned by the Land Bank and several awaiting sheriff sale; she said 250 letters have been sent to property owners regarding delinquent trash balances and that accounts with no response will be turned over to collections.
During public comment, Cheryl Maurice asked for benches on the main street. Michael Thomas provided attorney documents regarding residential rental license fees from another borough for council review. Residents Kathy and Edward Emerick, Dodi Kellerman and Denise Johnson raised concerns about juveniles vandalizing properties in the 400 block of Ohio Avenue; Rosemary Bradley yielded her time to those residents. John Carlo Lies asked about permits and partnerships for renovating 716 Delaware Avenue.
The meeting concluded with a unanimous motion to adjourn. Council recorded no votes against the measures taken at the meeting.
