Road Commissioner George Moon told the Selectpersons at their July 17 meeting that he has been working on Settler's Landing as a private contractor and said, "the culverts are in and the ditching is 3/4 done." He said he and the town clerk met with FEMA and that he has requested estimates for repairs to Carter's Beach Road.
Town Clerk/Admin. Asst. Cheryl A. Robinson confirmed the meeting and recorded the board's acceptance of Moon's report. No formal appropriation or contract award was made at the meeting; the board took the update under advisement and recorded it in departmental reports.
The exchange occurred during public comment and the departmental-report portion of the agenda. The board instructed Moon to continue coordination with FEMA; Separately, Moon was tasked to contact the Department of Environmental Protection to arrange a site visit related to the landfill inspection discussed later in the agenda.
Next steps noted by the board were collection of FEMA cost estimates and any follow-up site inspections; no schedule or dollar amounts were specified at the meeting.
