Georgetown Conservation Commission approves minutes and establishes application for use of town properties

The Georgetown Conservation Commission approved the amended minutes from its Aug. 12 meeting and unanimously voted to require groups, including town committees, to submit a standardized application when seeking use of town property managed by the commission.
The application, which the commission said will be reviewed for liability, safety and maintenance and forwarded with a recommendation to the Select Board, was approved without recorded opposition; Cheryl Swift will draft the form for review at the commission’s next meeting. The minutes for Aug. 12 were recorded as approved during the Sept. 9 meeting.
Members also reviewed multiple old-business items. Kathy Gravino reported that a Sparhawk energy-audit presentation drew about 30 attendees and that she prepared an attached written summary. The commission discussed the upcoming community cleanup on Saturday, Sept. 21, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.; posters are posted, supplies will be available for Georgetown residents, and several commission members will staff the Transfer Station. Ruth Indrick was interviewed by the Times Record about the event.
Commissioners discussed Ipcar Reserve work: John Wood will prepare a map of trails to assist first responders; signs have already been made and posted. Roger Bogart and Kathy Gravino will verify whether the Round the Cove trails have established names and, if not, will propose names to the commission; Kathy will determine sign costs.
The commission noted that the GCC playground is finished. Although the commission concluded it did not need to consult on construction, Chair Jessica Weller said she will draft a memorandum of understanding addressing liability, maintenance, safety and tree cutting for the Select Board’s consideration.
The commission scheduled review of the proposed application, and other follow-up items, at its next meeting.
