The Board of Commissioners of Tuscarawas County met June 8, 2026, and approved a series of routine administrative actions, including minutes, financial transfers, an appointment to the county library board and vendor payments. Commissioner Kristin Zemis presided; Commissioner Greg Ress voted in favor of all measures recorded. Commissioner Mitch Pace was absent.
The board approved the minutes from its June 3, 2026 meeting and a "Then & Now" expenditure listing Union Physician’s Serv. for $23.77. Both motions were moved by Commissioner Greg Ress and seconded by Commissioner Kristin Zemis; votes were recorded as Zemis, yes; Ress, yes; Pace, absent.
Under Resolution 423-2026 the commissioners approved multiple transfers for the Engineer’s payroll lines to address payroll changes. Approved transfers included $105.00, $40,000.00, $2,500.00, $2,000.00, $14,000.00 and $39,000.00 between specified account codes to cover payroll adjustments. The motion passed with Zemis and Ress voting yes; Pace was absent.
The board approved the Treasurer’s investments for May 2026 (Resolution 424-2026) following the same 2–0 recorded vote with Commissioner Pace absent.
By Resolution 425-2026 the commissioners appointed Gerald Wortman to the Tuscarawas County Public Library Board of Trustees; the appointment term is recorded to end May 1, 2030. The appointment passed on a recorded vote of Zemis, yes; Ress, yes; Pace, absent.
Under Resolution 426-2026 the board approved a quote submitted by Cummins Sales & Service, Inc. in the amount of $980.99 for work or equipment for the county dog pound. The motion was moved by Commissioner Ress and seconded by Commissioner Zemis and carried with the same recorded vote splits.
Finally, Resolution 427-2026 authorized payment of the bills presented to the board; the motion passed with Commissioners Zemis and Ress voting yes and Commissioner Pace recorded as absent.
