Police department reports 88 incidents in October and chief says LEADS audit passed; council urges support for levy

Councilor Kellie Green said village officers responded to 88 incidents between Oct. 1 and Oct. 26 and urged residents to appreciate the department’s broader response role beyond traffic enforcement. Several council members used their closing remarks to encourage voting on a police-levy replacement measure on the upcoming ballot; Council President John Lemmon explained the levy structure (replace an expiring 3-mill and maintain a 5-mill levy package) and asked residents to support it.
No levy vote was taken by the council tonight; councilors framed the comments as encouragement to vote in the upcoming election.
