Engineers and vendor report stormwater recovery; residents raise standing-water and conservation concerns

District staff and vendors updated trustees Aug. 27 on lake maintenance and stormwater system performance following recent storms, and residents raised local concerns about standing water, conservation-area debris and the location of a downed tree.
Bill Kurth of Premier Lakes said "the lakes appear to be in very good shape," that crews removed fallen trees from the Florida Power & Light ditch and outfall prior to an impending tropical storm, and that repairs to the Lake H1-B nano-bubbler "will be completed tomorrow." He reported Premier changed service frequency from quarterly to monthly during the rainy season and said he and Operations Manager Shane Willis will present proposals for the electrical portion of a compressor-relocation project in the Masters Lake.
District Engineer Charlie Krebs reported on storm-related system performance after Tropical Storm Debbie, saying parts of the community received "almost 8" of rain in two or three days" while the roads are designed for 5½" of rain over a 24-hour period and the stormwater system flowed but reached capacity. Krebs said The Club could add a drainage connection to Lake E1-A to bypass pipes and inlets and advised staff to monitor whether new curbing styles would increase cleaning frequency.
A resident reported standing water coming up through a unit slab and associated mold concerns; Krebs said he did not believe the resident's problem was caused by the recent storm because other units did not report similar issues and he asked Mr. Long and Mr. Long's staff to follow up. On permit questions, Krebs said allowing fire trucks to draw water from the lakes is not typical and would require approval from the South Florida Water Management District.
Resident Anita Bachragh asked that a downed tree by River 9 Catch Basin #134 be brought upright and asked for additional conservation-area clearing; Operations Manager Shane Willis said he would review past minutes and asked her to send photographs so staff can evaluate her requests. Resident Larry Fiesel asked about the speed sign project; Mr. Willis said Mr. Long is scheduling training and will provide an update at the next meeting.
The Board recorded several follow-ups including confirming the nano-bubbler repair timeline, staff review of the downed tree and conservation area, and a future agenda item to address standing-water reports.
