Premier Lakes reports lower aerator decibels but Board says tone and littoral plantings remain unresolved

Bill Kurth of Premier Lakes told the River Ridge board on July 23 that the lakes, preserves and dry retention areas are generally in good condition but that seasonal algae was noted. He said a cabinet installed around the Masters Lake compressor lowered measured sound levels from 64 to 52 decibels.
Mr. Kurth said plantings are scheduled but that one palm tree along the shoreline of Lake E7A was removed as part of routine maintenance. Operations Manager Shane Willis said that, "the issue is not so much about the decibels but it is the tone of the aerator," and the board discussed the possibility of moving the compressor and the location and easement impacts of such a change.
Board Chair Bob Schultz summarized recent Edgewater concerns about flooding and suggested additional piping and littoral plantings on Lake E‑4A and rip‑rap; the consensus was to avoid Canna lilies. Mr. Kurth agreed that plantings in Lake E4‑A will be delayed until the Edgewater Association and management reach an acceptable solution and staff will resubmit a revised planting proposal at a future meeting.
Staff will coordinate with Premier Lakes to evaluate moving the compressor and will report findings at the next Board meeting.
