The Trenton City Council on July 22 set a strategic workshop for Aug. 12 to follow that night’s council meeting and invited discussion of takeaways from the Tennessee Municipal League conference.
Mayor Tony Burriss told the council the workshop “will be August 12th following the council meeting. We can discuss things we pick up at the TML Conference.” The council also noted that the TML Convention is scheduled for Aug. 2–5.
Burriss announced plans for Trenton’s 200th birthday in October. The mayor said the celebration will take place in conjunction with Music on the Square, that some plans are already underway, and that the city is seeking suggestions from residents and council members about events and activities.
The council additionally learned that the City of Trenton will be featured at this year’s Gibson County Fair. Officials asked for items to assemble a display in the Martha Taylor Building to highlight the city.
Procedural items included approval of the July 8, 2025 meeting minutes: Alderman Wade moved to approve the minutes, Alderwoman Holt seconded, and the motion carried by voice vote. The council noted commissioner reports and a Trenton Light and Water report as attached to the record.
Alderman Graves moved to adjourn at 6:26 p.m.; Alderman Wade seconded and the motion carried. The council’s next regular meeting is Aug. 12, 2025, with the strategic workshop to follow.
