Rumford manager: Franklin Street paving, two downtown developments and ladder-truck workshop planned

Town Manager George O'Keefe told the Rumford Select Board on July 3 that the town plans milling and paving work on Franklin Street and that two separate developers are beginning projects in Rumford Center. "We have 2 developments going in in Rumford Center by two separate developers. This is the single largest development since 1830," O'Keefe said.
O'Keefe also requested a workshop at the July 17 meeting to discuss the Fire Department ladder truck. He reported the town has a summer intern, Victoria, who "is doing great," and said he was pleased with recent public-works progress.
Public-works updates provided by Roberts listed recent and planned paving and infrastructure work: completion of Oxford Avenue and Somerset Street (the latter done that week), upcoming work on Royal Avenue, High Street and the Industrial Park road (first phase), sidewalks and new fencing on Rumford Avenue, and culvert work on Belliveau Road ahead of finishing paving.
Chief Milligan thanked Parks, Public Works and the Fire Department for their assistance escorting The Wall That Heals down Route 2 to Farmington, calling it "an incredible honor" to be part of the escort.
The minutes record the managers' and departments' reports as informational; the board did not take a formal vote on the paving schedule or the downtown developments during this meeting. The board did, however, schedule the requested ladder-truck workshop for July 17.
