Planning staff said the director and city manager were attending a conference and that staff was reporting on several active projects. Tenant improvements at the future Vallarta Supermarket (1470 Mount Avenue, former Best Buy) are underway, with staff saying a fall opening is likely if work proceeds as planned. Staff also said Viet Coffee plans to occupy the former KFC on Huntington and that Sky—s trampoline park has submitted tenant-improvement plan check documents. Crestfield townhomes plans are in plan check with construction expected to start in July and a projected build time of 18 to 24 months.
Staff reported that a recreation-trail upgrade project is expected to start in mid-June and take about six months, including full paving, landscape and amenities. Commissioners asked for clarification about the location and jurisdiction for nearby parks and whether Fish Canyon Trail and associated public parking remain closed; staff said they had no update on Fish Canyon and would investigate and report back.
The commission asked staff to follow up with more details about the trail project and any jurisdictional responsibilities for adjacent parkland; staff agreed to provide an update at a future hearing.
