Council approves reappointments and year-end employee incentives

The Batesville City Council approved two board reappointments and a year-end incentive plan for city employees at its Nov. 1 meeting.
The council voted to reappoint Cord Davidson to a five-year term on the Public Facilities Board and Grant Goodwin to a five-year term on the Airport Commission; both motions passed unanimously.
Mayor Rick elal proposed a tiered incentive payment to recognize staff work this year and explained the proposed schedule of payouts by hours worked. Under the approved plan, full-time employees who worked 1,000 or more hours will receive $1,500; full-time employees who worked 500 to 999 hours will receive $750; full-time employees who worked 100 to 499 hours will receive $375. The mayor also outlined tiers for permanent part-time employees tied to hours worked; the city clerk confirmed hours will be tabulated Jan. 1 through Nov. 1 and that checks will be distributed on Nov. 27.
Mayor elal said funds are available and that department heads had authenticated the numbers; council approved the incentive payouts by voice vote.
The council also briefly reviewed financial reports and set future meeting dates for budget work and December council meetings.
