Chair Steve August asked department heads to consider reporting services provided to each town on a monthly basis, saying the information would help address common budget-season questions about “what does the County do for [town name]?” Administrator Amber Jones said she could add data submitted by departments to her Administrator’s report and planned to send a draft annual letter to municipalities for review before the January meeting.
The discussion also covered forming an ad hoc committee to study courthouse space needs and possibly fund a critical-needs assessment in the FY27 budget; August said he intends to bring the idea back for discussion in January rather than ask for an immediate vote.
Jones proposed holding a workshop on January 14 to consult municipal leaders about allowing two tax payments, a change made possible by recently amended legislation. Commissioners agreed the workshop time could be adjusted to encourage municipal participation and Jones said she would send invitations and follow up with towns to gather input ahead of the meeting.
