Shelton trustees approve Post Office street repairs, Phelps Drive water-tap replacements and recommend fire-department liquor license

The Village of Shelton Board of Trustees on July 10 approved several infrastructure and administrative items, including a contract to repair the street and drainage in front of the local Post Office and a resolution to cover additional water-repair costs on Phelps Drive.
Trustees voted to accept a proposal from Sal Ramos Construction Inc. to fix street and drainage problems in front of the Post Office and proceed with the project at a cost of $72,657.30; the motion passed unanimously with one member absent. Trustee Oberg moved to accept the proposal and Trustee Rabbe seconded the motion.
The board also approved Resolution No. 25-07-10 authorizing the village to acquire services from Sal Ramos dba Ramos Construction to replace six water taps on Phelps Drive for $13,069.76 after officials said the project required more service-connection replacements than initially expected. Trustee Rabbe moved to adopt the resolution and Trustee Jensen seconded; the resolution passed 4–0 (Trustee Roe absent).
JD Gangwish appeared to request that the board recommend to the Nebraska Liquor Control Commission approval of a Special Designated License for the SVFR 'Hero’s Dance' and related events on Aug. 16, 2025. Trustee Jensen moved to recommend approval on the condition that a liquor-liability policy be obtained naming the Village as an additional insured; Trustee Rabbe seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
The consent agenda included approval of Brian Urbom as a new member of the SVFR and acceptance of the June financial and audit reports. After reviewing claims, the board voted to pay them as presented. Vice Chairman Cliff Keslar declared a vacancy on the Housing Authority Board following the passing of Sharon Myers and directed Village Clerk Bonnie Doremus to advertise to fill the vacancy. The meeting adjourned at 7:30 P.M.
