Jasper County board enters two closed sessions to discuss litigation strategy at request of named parties

During its June 9 meeting the Jasper County Board of Supervisors twice voted to enter closed sessions under Iowa Code Section 21.5(c) to discuss strategy with counsel in matters in litigation or where litigation is imminent; requests were made by Scott Nicholson, Mike Frietsch and later by Dennis Simon. Both sessions were entered and exited by recorded votes of Supervisors Cupples and Nearmyer.
The Jasper County Board of Supervisors on June 9 voted to enter closed session twice to discuss strategy with counsel in matters that are presently in litigation or where litigation is imminent.
The first closed session was entered at the request of Scott Nicholson and Mike Frietsch under Iowa Code Section 21.5(c). The transcript records a motion by Supervisor Cupples, seconded by Chairman Thad Nearmyer, and roll-call YEA votes from Nearmyer and Cupples. The board later voted to come out of that closed session by the same recorded vote.
A second closed session was entered later in the meeting at the request of Dennis Simon under the same statutory authority; that session likewise was entered and exited by recorded YEA votes from Nearmyer and Cupples.
