The Utility Advisory Board approved staff's recommendation to purchase roughly 19 replacement streetlight fixtures for Polson Road and adjacent corporate parks as part of a gateway‑enhancement effort. Staff said the existing infrastructure in that corridor is 30–33 years old, some poles show corrosion and repeated repainting, and LED fixtures would reduce maintenance and provide a consistent gateway appearance.
Staff explained material and install costs and said the electric department expects to do much of the installation in‑house if workload allows. Directional boring and conduit being installed for other projects will run concurrently so the city can place conduit for future fiber. Board members asked about bid line items and contingencies and the source of funds; staff said the purchase is part of the capital program and costs reported in the packet.
A voice vote approved the purchase recommendation with no recorded objections.
