The Carrabassett Valley Select Board voted unanimously on June 23 to double the Carrabassett Valley Public Library Begin Room hourly fee from $20 to $40, with a maximum charge of $200 for up to eight hours. Jay Reynolds moved the change and Roddy Ehrlenbach seconded.
The board discussed fee parity across town facilities, noting that the Outdoor Center charges a $200 minimum for social groups and that the King Pine Room at Sugarloaf is an option for larger events. Chair Bob Luce and other members said the library should remain the least expensive option for small community gatherings.
The board also agreed that income generated by town facilities should be credited to their respective reserve accounts rather than the general fund. Town Manager Garrett Corbin was asked to incorporate that disposition in preparations for next year’s budget.
The motion passed unanimously. The board did not specify an effective date in the minutes; the fee change will be reflected in town bookkeeping and budget planning as Corbin implements the direction given by the board.
