Board approves $247,391.63 in BCA grants and scholarships for 2026

The Board of Supervisors voted 5‑0 on May 14 to approve the Board of Community Assistance (BCA) recommendations for 2026, awarding a total of $247,391.63 across 70 recipients.
BCA member Lydia Dan Sardinas outlined the program’s history and said the fund has awarded more than $2 million in grants since its 2013 establishment with Valley Forge Casino Resort and Boyd Gaming as partners. This year the BCA received 82 applications and awarded funds to 44 organizations, 5 sports programs and 21 scholarships for high school juniors and seniors who reside in Upper Merion Township. Lydia Dan Sardinas thanked BCA administrator Gerri Vattimo for her role helping applicants and managing the reception. Supervisor Greg Waks, the Board liaison to the BCA, said he reads every application and called the work "a labor of love."
The Board approved the recommendations on a unanimous voice vote. The Township will coordinate payments and follow the BCA’s administrative process for recipient reporting.
