Director reports: sidewalks to be redone May 18; waterline 85% complete; inspections start May 21

At the May 14 meeting, Executive Director Lynn Berube gave a detailed operations and capital update for the Somerset Housing Authority’s two primary properties.
Berube said maintenance staff, assisted by Fall River Housing Authority personnel, continue turnover work between tenancies. The Kennedy Terrace waterline replacement is roughly 85% complete but is awaiting several back-ordered parts. Doorstop work including roof bidding for building three and a shutoff valve project will be advertised for bids in the coming weeks.
A compaction test on the public sidewalks failed, Berube reported, and the authority plans to remove and replace all sidewalks beginning May 18. National Grid will replace an electrical box, and the town provided funds to support the shutoff valve work.
On grants and programs, Berube said Aervivo is scheduled to start late summer or early fall and that she and staff are preparing an Art Grant for the community center alongside a High Leverage Asset Grant; Brian Fox has agreed to assist the authority with grant work.
Berube said Kennedy Terrace currently has two vacancies and Eugene Murphy Village has two vacancies (one unit will be ready to lease immediately, and applicants for remaining units should be leased within two to three weeks once units are prepared). Apartment inspections are scheduled to begin May 21 across both properties, and the Department of Housing notified the authority that contractors will conduct property inspections shortly.
The board accepted the Director's report by unanimous roll call. Staff will proceed with bidding, scheduling inspections and coordinating the remaining waterline work and sidewalk replacement.
