Selectmen address winter roads, fire-department heating fix, snowmobile fund clarification and cemetery repairs

The Board of Selectmen discussed several town-maintenance and community items at the Dec. 3 meeting. Selectmen reported that winter roads had not been widened after a storm and that icy areas remained; two selectmen said they would call the contractor to request the large truck and to apply sand to icy areas.
The fire department reported a heating issue with a new furnace; department members checked the problem and Community Energy responded and repaired the issue.
On budgeted community funds, the board reviewed an error in the Return Warrant for the Nov. 26 Special Town Meeting: snowmobile-club funds were approved but the club was reminded those funds must be used only in Roxbury. The selectmen asked the club to revise its invoice to bill specifically for an excavator (not labor) and noted the club had submitted before-and-after photos of the work.
The board approved cemetery stone repairs and said it will contact a contractor to perform the work. Other unfinished items included a retainer wall (board awaiting town counsel) and an incomplete boundary agreement at First Beach; the board said it will contact the animal control officer about the beach boundary issue.
