The Magnet Cove School District #8 Board of Education on April 24 approved a slate of personnel actions affecting certificated and classified staff for the 2025-26 school year.
Hires approved in the minutes include Donica McEntire as a morning school bus route driver; Lacey Long as an elementary school teacher (pending background checks); Jennifer Mabry as a paraprofessional (pending background checks); Grady Jones as an assistant football/baseball coach and teacher (pending background checks); Kaylee Butler as school nurse (pending background checks); and Aaron Polk as technology director for 2025-26. The board also added a Medicaid stipend to Morgan Stevens for 2025-26.
The board accepted resignations recorded in the minutes: Kristen McLaughlin as head cheer coach effective at the end of the 2024-25 school year (the board separately approved hiring McLaughlin as K-12 assistant principal for 2025-26), Molly Hill (elementary teacher), Valerie Hawthorn (special education paraprofessional), Mollie Martin (web manager and communications director), Lauren Rhodes (high school science teacher) and Todd Finley (teacher/coach), all effective at the end of the 2024-25 school year. Acceptance of Crystal Looney’s resignation as an elementary school teacher was recorded with a 4-1 vote; other personnel actions were recorded as unanimous, 5-0.
The board also approved rehiring all classified employees appearing on the submitted list for 2025-26. Several hires were noted as contingent on successful completion of background checks.
The minutes do not provide salaries, personnel files or reasons for individual resignations. The superintendent’s report was delivered to the board before adjournment; the meeting ended at 7:35 p.m.
