Public hearing set June 16 for proposed Hermansen rezone; commission debates Industrial Park zoning

Presenter Dave Oxman described a requested rezone of roughly 2.11 acres at 898 South 200 West from its current designation to commercial zoning to provide additional development opportunities; he also noted a small strip of property directly south of the parcel would need to be rezoned to make the change contiguous. The commission directed staff to schedule a public hearing on the Hermansen request for the commission's June 16 meeting.
Commissioners also discussed zoning near the Contoy Arena on the north side of 1000 South, where property now designated Commercial Manufacturing might remain as-is, be rezoned Residential Agricultural (RA), or be designated Commercial with an overlay. The commission agreed that additional research and discussion would be necessary before making any recommendation on the Industrial Park or the north 1000 South zoning.
No formal vote on rezoning was taken at the May 19 meeting; the public hearing will allow public comment and further deliberation.
