Selectmen recommend $1,444 for Historical Society; TIF and club requests put on hold

At their Feb. 25 meeting, the Roxbury Board of Selectmen recommended $1,444.00 in support for the Historical Society (motion by Matthew Patneaude, second Ray Hodsdon, vote 3-0), described in the minutes as approximately $3 per person.

The board put several TIF-project requests and club funding requests (ATV club, Snowmobile Club) on hold while the town clarifies whether those items fall under a grant program and to await lawyer guidance on the wording of —grant' in related materials. The board also removed a septic-grant article from the warrant after determining it should fall under the grant section of the program.

Operational items discussed included unresolved complaints about winter roads and two resident complaints about roads being closed or not plowed wide enough following severe drifts; board members suggested the excavator work might be eligible for EMA funds and noted contractors should notify the office if cars obstruct plowing. The board said a roof over the town sand pile is a 2026 budget item and that the tax-acquired-property option recommended by the town lawyer was the second option presented.

The revaluation RFP is nearing completion after a workshop and will be revisited at the next meeting; swim-area permit work is nearly complete and will be submitted. Retainer-wall work is under way and the town has received legal billing related to a new deed; contractor contact information will be forwarded to the chair. Cemetery stone repairs and specific burial-location updates were noted as requiring follow-up.

The board confirmed the regular ballot clerks are Pamela Bulger and Doreen Stinson and asked whether it wanted appointment reports when clerks are appointed.
