Roxbury selectmen approve $626,403.27 budget for 2025 and sign warrants

The Roxbury Board of Selectmen voted Feb. 25 to adopt the town's 2025 budget totaling $626,403.27 and to sign associated warrants.
Ray Hodsdon moved to accept the 2025 budget; Timothy Derouche seconded and the board approved the measure 3-0. The board reported funding sources as $82,248.56 from excise tax revenue, $65,000 from the general fund to cover discounts, $20,000 from LARP for Department of Transportation work and $26,280 from the town's TIF account.
Timothy Derouche moved to put the 2025 salaries on the warrant; Ray Hodsdon seconded and the motion passed 3-0. The board also voted to leave stipends to be paid at year-end except for the Animal Control Officer, which will be handled differently (motion by Timothy Derouche, second by Matthew Patneaude, vote 3-0).
A separate motion to allow a 3% tax discount for a property owner who received a bill late due to a split passed unanimously (motion by Timothy Derouche, second Ray Hodsdon, vote 3-0).
The board approved warrant #4 and later voted to approve a warrant for $128,893.50 (motion by Timothy Derouche, second Matthew Patneaude, vote 3-0).
Other fiscal items addressed included rolling over a renewable-award certificate of deposit due March 13, 2025; the board voted to roll the CD over with a new maturity date of Dec. 13, 2025 (motion by Timothy Derouche, second Ray Hodsdon, vote 3-0). The board asked staff to confirm scholarship information with the local school.
The board recessed routine business for items that require further legal or procedural clarification, including several TIF-related requests and grant definitions, and scheduled the annual town meeting for March 16, 2025 at 1:00 p.m.
