Mendota council splits Divisadero project, sets alternates for 2025 streets work and limits new engineering assignments

The motion also directed that the 2025 Local Streets Reconstruction Project include portions of 4th Street, I Street and Riofrio Street (from 6th Street to 7th Street) as project alternates, while retaining Quince Street as part of the main project. In addition, the council asked the City Engineer, Osborn, to provide details about a potential installation in the community space planned within the Derrick and Oller Roundabout Project and instructed the engineer to refrain from taking on additional City projects.
The action follows a report on the status of numerous city projects provided at the meeting by City Engineer Osborn after Mayor Victor Martinez introduced the agenda item. Public comment was not offered during the meeting.
Council members adopted the final agenda at 4:04 p.m. earlier in the session by a separate unanimous motion. With no additional business, the council adjourned at 5:27 p.m.
What happens next: the City Engineer is to provide the requested details on the roundabout community-space installation and the split Divisadero project will be carried forward as two separate projects with Inez Street funded from local sources; the minutes do not specify timelines, contract awards, or funding amounts.
