The Mendota City Council on Sept. 2 directed City Engineer Osborn to prepare different installation and funding options for the community space at the Derrick and Oller Roundabout and to return to council for further discussion.
City Engineer Osborn presented a staff report on possible treatments for the roundabout’s community space. Mayor Pro Tem Jose Alonso moved to instruct the engineer to present multiple installation concepts and funding approaches; Council Member Libertad "Liberty" Lopez seconded and the motion passed unanimously. Council members discussed seeking input from the Fresno Arts Council on design options.
No public comments were offered during the item. The city did not commit funds at the meeting; staff were directed to develop options that include potential funding sources and implementation approaches for council review at a future date.
